An overview of the access to learning materials situation in Southern Africa - A brief introduction to the current IPR regime and its implications - A survey of looming IPR threats by way of the US FTA, other trade agreements, and treaty accessions - An understanding of the multiplicity of media that generate access: specifically - (a) how electronic media resources enable producers to cooperate, specifically citing a project partner, the Free High School Science Texts project (www.nongnu.org/fhsst/) (b) an overview of the structure in which free/ open content material can be harnessed to generate contextually specific and useful material (c) a detailed analysis of the access situation with regards different media, and two case studies from sites we are working at (see attached presentation for details) which will provide good real-life examples to think through.
